An Evening to Remember: Exmoor Distillery at Downing Street’s St George’s Day Reception
Last night marked a truly unforgettable chapter in the Exmoor Distillery story. We had the immense honour of being invited to 10 Downing Street for a St George’s Day reception—a celebration that shines a spotlight on the very best of English culture, heritage, and craftsmanship.
As an independent distillery located in Dulverton the southern gateway to Exmoor, being recognised at such a prestigious national event wasn’t just a proud moment—it was a reinforcement to the passion, perseverance, and authenticity we pour into every bottle.
A Historic Setting for a National Celebration
Stepping through the iconic black door of Number 10 was a surreal experience. With the Union Jack waving proudly overhead and the buzz of history in the air, it was impossible not to feel the significance of the moment.
St George’s Day is more than just a date on the calendar and being there alongside so many inspiring figures from across the country made us reflect on how far we’ve come and how much there still is to achieve.
Exmoor Distillery: Crafting Spirits with Heritage
At Exmoor Distillery, every drop of our spirit is a tribute to the rugged beauty, tradition, and rich legacy of our surroundings. Whether it’s our award-winning Exmoor Spiced Rum, with its warm, aromatic profile, or our crisp and distinctive Northmoor Gin, our goal has always been to create something truly authentic—something that tastes like Exmoor.
Being part of the reception gave us a rare opportunity to share that story. We spoke with fellow artisans, entrepreneurs, and advocates of British-made products, all equally committed to keeping craftsmanship alive. It was a moment to raise a glass not just to what we make, but to why we make it.
An Evening of Connection and Inspiration
From MPs, Artisans, Olympians to CEOs, the diversity of voices reminded us of the richness and dynamism that defines modern England. And amid it all, we felt proud to represent Exmoor, bringing a taste of our landscape to the nation’s capital.
Looking Ahead
While it was a night of celebration, it was also a night that reminded us why we do what we do and that the journey is success. Crafting spirits is more than a business, it’s about keeping traditional methods alive in a world of consumerism, whist pushing boundaries, about community, quality, and fun.
As we look to the future, we’re more determined than ever to grow our reach, tell our story far and wide, and keep putting Exmoor on the map—one bottle at a time.
Attending the St George’s Day reception at Downing Street was more than an honour—it was a milestone. A celebration not just of Exmoor Distillery, but of all that makes England exceptional.
Cheers from all of us at Exmoor Distillery.
